Digital Dentistry

Today digital world presents in all aspect of human life. There is no doubt that the modern life without digital technology not only is impossible but also is meaningless. There is almost two decades that digital technology and concept come through modern dentistry. Using advance digital equipment and techniques causes we have more sophisticated and precise treatments. It must e noted that digital dentistry deeply changed the nature of cosmetic dentistry and also implant based teeth replacements. Here we try to introduce you the application of digital dentistry in our everyday practice.

Digital smile design

The classic smile design methods are now replaced by advance digital smile design techniques. Now we can use special digital photos and face scans to analyze the patient’s smile and distinguish the problems very easily. Dr. Navab is digital trainer so, he can design your appropriate teeth based on your face characters very easily and also very fast. He uses a special software for this work. At the end of this stage, you have a picture which shows your face with new teeth design. After checking and confirmation, we step on the next phase of smile design. You should remember that this process is a part of Dr. Nava smile design protocol and he does it for any patient.

3D printer

After finalizing the new teeth design over patient’s photos and face scan, using the most advance 3D printer equipment, Dr. Navab reproduce a real 3D model of the teeth from the virtual one. On this model the actual size, form and shape of teeth is delivered so he can use it as diagnostic mock up model in next step. It should be emphasized that the printer preciseness must be very high to reproduce the future teeth as same as the virtual design.

Oral scanner

Oral scanner: One of the most important equipment in digital dentistry is oral scanner. Through this device complete details of teeth, surrounding tissues, arch form and upper/lower teeth relationship are recorded. Dr. Navab uses the most advance oral scanner in the world so, he can be assured the preciseness of the final record is very high and acceptable comparing with traditional impression making by silicone materials. Through using oral scanner there is no need to make dental impressions. So, it will be a very comfortable and exciting experience for the patient.

CAD/CAM machines

At the final stage of digital restorative dentistry CAD/CAM machines have been used. These robotic machines can reproduce any kind of restorations which already design virtually. They mill a block – depend on the restoration material- to produce a specific crown or laminate. Their preciseness are much higher than conventional methods. Also they work very fast so, the treatment time will be reduced.
SURGICAL GUIDE

SURGICAL GUIDE

Now there is no time for doing surgeries without an appropriate guide. Dr. Navab design and produce surgical guide for any kind of surgery, for example; esthetic gum lifting or implant placement. He believes that in any surgical procedure the final result must be predictable. So, he design a surgical guide for the surgeon through a special software and after that prints it with 3D printer. Now the surgeon can use this guide to be assured the surgical procedure goes as already designed. Following this protocol decrease the errors and increase preciseness. In dental implant treatments, even there is a chance to reproduce the provisional teeth before surgery. In this way if everything will be ok through surgical procedure, patient can have his/her temporary teeth immediately after surgery at the same day. Therefore, he/she does not have to tolerate the edentulous time after surgery. For understanding better please read Immediate loading in implants.

Digital dentistry work flow needs sufficient knowledge and necessary experience in this field.

Dr. Navab is A master in digital dentistry and has many training courses in digital dentistry.
